China registra un progreso sostenido en la reforestación y el crecimiento forestal

China sigue liderando el mundo en crecimiento forestal y protección ecológica. Hasta la fecha, la superficie forestal de China ha alcanzado unos 241 millones de hectáreas, lo que equivale aproximadamente a 100 árboles por persona. Más de una cuarta parte del país está actualmte cubierta de bosques, con un volumen de casi 21.000 millones de metros cúbicos. Tanto la superficie como el volumen han experimentado un crecimiento constante durante 40 años consecutivos, ya que China lidera el mundo en velocidad y escala de expansión verde.

China completó más de 36,5 millones de hectáreas de reforestación durante el periodo del XIV Plan Quinquenal. También restauró más de 10 millones de hectáreas de tierras desertificadas.
