Gelombang kedatangan ribuan warga Zionis itu sontak memicu ketegangan serius di kalangan politisi lokal hingga pengamat politik.
Ketua Parta Oposisi AKEL, Stefanos Stefanu bahkan mengklaim aksi ini sebagai penjajahan diam-diam oleh Israel.
Hal itu lantaran Israel disebut membeli sejumlah lahan penting di Siprus yang memiliki nilai strategis tinggi.
Ia juga melaporkan bahwa saat ini Zionis telah membentuk zona-zona ekslusif dengan mendirikan sekolah, hingga infrastruktur komunitas lainnya.
Hal tersebut tentu memberikan dampak besar bagi wilayah sekitar, ada kemungkinan kawasan tersebut nantinya tertutup.
Tak hanya sekedar menimbulkan rasa khawatir, aksi tak berizin yang dilakukan penduduk Zionis diklaim dapat memberikan ancaman bagi kemanan nasional.
Pakar hukum internasional Universitas Ilmu Sosial Ankara, Dr Emete Gozuguzeli turut angkat bicara menangani persoalan serius ini.
Perhatiannya terpusat pada peran organisasi Chabad, gerakan Yahudi ultra-Ortodoks, yang diklaim aktif membangun sinagoga, taman kanak-kanak hingga pemakaman di Siprus.
Menurutnya struktur tersebut menjadi dasar akan keberadaan permanen komunitas Israel kelak yang dapat memengaruhi sosial hingga operasi intelijen terselubung.
