💈 A Barbershop Opened In His Grandparents' Home | Relaxing Scissor Haircut At PepeH Barberia in Mérida 🇲🇽"Everyone who visits us is a special guest, and that is how we want them to feel." -Pepe
Ten years ago José Juan García, aka Pepe, opened PepeH Barberia. He was born and raised in Mérida and started out as a dancer - studying classical ballet at the School of Fine Arts. His mother is a ballerina and dance teacher so growing up he was surrounded by art and discipline.
What inspired Pepe to become a barber was serving people and how almost every hour of the day, you can help make someone feel better 💈 He enjoys meeting and learning from people and loves the human connection. He says, "Every person is a different world, and every hour I get to step into that world.”
There have been several mentors throughout Pepe's training, and he learned important lessons from each one. He was taught that barbering is "above all, a service, and that beyond ego or technique, the most important thing is to always give our best to every client, paying attention not only to the final result but also to every small detail of the service." Pepe learned, "This profession is about hospitality, respect, and vocation.”
This barbershop is a gorgeous space set inside what used to be the home of Pepe’s grandfather, who is also the shops namesake. Above the reception desk, you’ll see a photo of his grandparents ❤️ The family home was lost for a period of time, but the family was able to get part of it back including a huge garden 🌵🌸
Pepe remembers his grandparents home was always warm, happy & peaceful so he wanted to recreate that same loving atmosphere ✨
Fresh flowers and your favorite drink welcome you to the shop 💐 These personal touches are important to Pepe to show “care, attention and respect to the space and people who visit us.”
When someone trains with Pepe, one of the first assignments he gives is to watch the @HairCutHarry YouTube channel ▶️ They are asked to submit a report on each video of five things that stood out to them ✍🏼
✨ Life advice? "Be grateful, listen, and feel with intention." Pepe adds, "Focus on enjoying the present, learn from the past, and plant today what you want to harvest in the future.”
