Noruega es un país muy rico, con apenas cinco millones de habitantes, acumula uno de los mayores fondos de riqueza del mundo, gracias a décadas de ingresos petroleros. Este colchón financiero asciende a 1.7 billones de dólares; una cifra similar al pib de Italia. Suficiente para regalarle $300.000 a cada noruego. Esto ha permitido a Noruega gozar, durante décadas, de un estado de bienestar generoso, bajo desempleo, mínima deuda pública y uno de los niveles de vida más altos del planeta.Sin embargo, tanta abundancia trae sus propios desafíos. En los últimos años han empezado a aparecer grietas en el modelo noruego. De hecho, ya hay un libro de 2025 que es best seller en Noruega llamado: “El país que se volvió demasiado rico”. Refiriéndose precisamente a ese tema. El autor, el economista Martin Bech Holte, piensa que Noruega debería ser un imán de oportunidades y personas, pero no es así. Por el contrario, en Noruega no hay ambición y según él se debe 100% al fondo petrolero. A primera vista, es difícil creer que Noruega tenga problemas económicos y sociales derivados de tener demasiada riqueza. Sin embargo, varios indicadores señalan distorsiones del que se creía era el modelo perfecto.
