June 7, 1990 - Following a 30-point blowout loss to UNLV in the 1989 NCAA National Championship, Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski was briefly rumored to have briefly considered taking over as head coach of the Boston Celtics following the departure of Jimmy Rodgers. Krzyzewski ultimately declined the opportunity, instead opting to return to Duke, where he'd go on to win five NCAA National Championships, the first of which came in 1991.
