This documentary follows Gjergj Kastrioti from his childhood as a political hostage to the creation of the League of Lezhë. We trace his first major victory at Torvioll, the siege of Krujë, and the campaigns that tested Albania’s fragile alliance. Even when Berat fell and members of his own family joined the Ottomans, Skanderbeg found a way to strike back. At Albulena, he turned a crisis into one of the most celebrated victories of his career. But his war reached beyond Albania. Skanderbeg crossed the Adriatic to aid Ferdinand of Naples, pursued alliances with Venice and the papacy, and faced renewed invasions under Mehmed II. We examine the tactics that made Ottoman numbers difficult to use in Albania’s mountains, and the limits of those victories as both sides fought for Krujë. How did a former Ottoman commander sustain resistance for twenty-five years? And what became of Albania after his death in 1468? Follow the battles, betrayals, diplomacy, and legacy of a leader the Ottomans struggled to subdue.
