Chi decide come evolve? Una questione che divide opinioni e generazioni, ben oltre i confini della grammatica.
La spinta verso nuove forme lessicali - "la sindaca", "l'avvocata", "l'architetta" —-viene spesso presentata come una conquista civile. Per molti, però, suona come una forzatura su una lingua che funzionava già da sola.
Il nodo è la coerenza. L'italiano è da sempre un sistema asimmetrico: "la guardia" è grammaticalmente femminile ma semanticamente neutro, "il pediatra" porta l'articolo maschile anche riferendosi a una donna. Irregolarità convissute per secoli. Se si vuole portare ogni professione al femminile, la logica vorrebbe il percorso inverso per i termini già femminili - eppure nessuno propone "un guardia" o "un sentinella". Applicato fino in fondo, il principio si rivela selettivo: ideologico, non linguistico.
Nessuno vieta di usare "la sindaca". La libertà di scegliere il proprio linguaggio è sacrosanta. Quello che irrita è la pretesa che quella scelta debba diventare norma per tutti - e che chi non si adegua sia automaticamente arretrato.
La lingua evolve, è sempre stato così - dal latino ai dialetti, dai dialetti alle lingue moderne. Ma ogni cambiamento autentico è emerso dal basso, dall'uso spontaneo della gente. Quando la spinta arriva dall'alto e va contro l'uso naturale, non si chiama evoluzione. Si chiama imposizione.
