Ecuador: Drogen-Hafen Manta in Flammen – 35 Boote zerstört

Ein Großbrand hat den Hafen von Manta in Ecuador erschüttert. Mindestens 14 größere Fischerboote und 21 kleinere Boote wurden durch die Flammen zerstört. Dichte schwarze Rauchwolken waren weithin sichtbar. Zwei Menschen wurden verletzt. Erste Ermittlungen deuten darauf hin, dass Schweißarbeiten an einem Boot den Brand ausgelöst haben könnten. Die aus Faserverbundstoff und Holz gefertigten Bootsrümpfe begünstigten offenbar die schnelle Ausbreitung des Feuers. Der Hafen von Manta gilt als wichtiger Umschlagplatz an der Pazifikküste Ecuadors. Die Untersuchungen zur genauen Brandursache dauern an.
