Bangladesh election results 2026: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman, on February 15, met Prime Minister-elect Tarique Rahman just hours after formally challenging the results in 32 constituencies. The meeting came days after the Bangladesh Nationalist Party secured a sweeping mandate in the first general election since the 2024 uprising that ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. With 212 seats in parliament, Rahman is set to take the oath at the South Plaza of Parliament. As allegations of irregularities surface and post-poll tensions linger, the BNP leader has called for unity and collective responsibility. Leaders from across the region have been invited, with India represented by Om Birla at the ceremony.
