داستان درباره طلبه‌ای به نام آزاده است که دوستش نازی –‌از همراهان جنبش سبز‌– را به حوزه علمیه دعوت می‌کند؛ اما با گم‌ شدن نازی و شدت گرفتن درگیری‌ها، او و دوستانش ناچار می‌شوند نازیِ مجروح را به حوزه منتقل کنند. انتشار یک فیلم جعلی، آنها را به آدم‌ ربایی متهم می‌کند تا اینکه حقیقت با انتشار فیلم اصلی آشکار می‌شود. «بعدازظهر» نگاهی انسانی و پرتنش به واقعیت‌های اجتماعی آن دوره دارد.

The story is about a student named Azadeh who invites his friend Nazi – a member of the Green Movement – to the seminary; but when Nazi goes missing and the fighting intensifies, he and his friends are forced to transport the injured Nazi to the seminary. The release of a fake film accuses them of kidnapping until the truth is revealed with the release of the real film. “Afternoon” takes a humane and tense look at the social realities of the period.
