Il dottor Eugenio #Serravalle, pediatra membro della Commissione Medico Scientifica Indipendente (CMSI), è intervenuto in #CommissioneCovid illustrando una serie di dati critici sulla campagna vaccinale pediatrica anti-Covid e contestando tanto l'impianto scientifico che ne aveva sorretto l'adozione quanto l'adeguatezza dei sistemi di farmacovigilanza adottati in Italia.
Punto di partenza del ragionamento, una citazione del ricercatore Peter Doshi: quando il beneficio individuale di un intervento medico è piccolo, la soglia di accettabilità per qualsiasi evento avverso deve essere "quasi nulla". Secondo Serravalle, nel caso della vaccinazione Covid in età pediatrica, il beneficio era "più che piccolo", rendendo ancora più stringente l'onere della prova in capo a chi aveva proposto l'intervento — un onere che, a suo avviso, non è stato adeguatamente soddisfatto.
Per non parlare dell'inadeguatezza del sistema di segnalazione adottato in Italia. Serravalle ha messo a confronto i dati del 12° rapporto AIFA — basato su segnalazioni passive di sospette reazioni avverse — con quelli del programma di sorveglianza attiva GoSafe, rilevando una differenza di "migliaia di volte". La tesi sostenuta è che la vigilanza passiva sottostimi di circa mille volte gli #eventiavversi effettivamente verificatisi.
A fronte di questa lacuna, la Commissione Medico Scientifica Indipendente aveva formalmente richiesto l'attivazione di un programma di sorveglianza attiva che prevedesse, come minimo, l'esecuzione di troponine ed elettrocardiogrammi dopo la somministrazione dei vaccini ai bambini, per quantificare l'entità delle miocarditi subcliniche. La richiesta, ha spiegato il pediatra, non ha avuto seguito.
Anche il programma americano V-safe, sistema di sorveglianza attiva post-vaccinale, è stato preso a riferimento per una proiezione ipotetica: applicando alla popolazione italiana i dati raccolti da V-safe, si sarebbe potuto stimare un quadro degli eventi avversi ben più dettagliato di quello effettivamente disponibile.
