Pronti i primi nuovi tram Sirio destinati alla linea 3.2.1 Libertà-Bagno a Ripoli. A mostrarli è stata la sindaca Sara Funaro, che sui social ha pubblicato le immagini delle vetture realizzate da Hitachi: «A batteria, più spaziosi e silenziosi», scrive la sindaca. Cambia l’aspetto, con una nuova livrea, ampie superfici vetrate e, all’interno, sedute rosse in plastica, definite «più funzionali e igieniche». I nuovi Sirio rappresentano una delle principali novità della linea per Bagno a Ripoli. Saranno alimentati anche a batteria e potranno quindi viaggiare nei tratti privi di catenaria, evitando pali e fili per quasi tre chilometri, in particolare lungo i viali del Poggi e viale Giannotti. Le vetture sono lunghe 33,5 metri, circa un metro in più rispetto ai Sirio già in servizio, hanno 54 posti a sedere e possono trasportare fino a 278 passeggeri. La velocità massima è di 70 chilometri orari. In tutto sono 16 i nuovi tram previsti per la linea 3.2.1, lunga 7,2 chilometri e con 17 fermate. L’obiettivo è inaugurare il nuovo tracciato entro l’estate 2027. Il nodo principale è il ponte da Verrazzano: dovrà essere consolidato, con lavori stimati in sette mesi.
