Reactions after US kills 6 in strike on alleged drug boat
We are learning more after the United States struck another boat accused of carrying drugs in waters around Venezuela. According to President Donald Trump, the strike on Tuesday killed six people. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth later shared video of the strike in a post on social media. National Security Expert Glenn Ignazio is discussing the situation in and around Venezuelan waters with LiveNOW's Josh Breslow.In a memo to Congress obtained by The Associated Press, the Trump administration said it had “determined that the United States is in a non-international armed conflict with these designated terrorist organizations” and that Trump directed the Pentagon to “conduct operations against them pursuant to the law of armed conflict.”
California Sen. Adam Schiff, a Democrat, said in a post on social media, “These continued strikes — 27 killed to date — risk getting the U.S. into a full fledged war,” Schiff said. The California Senator also said he would push for another vote if the strikes continue.
