Anunciado em 2017 junto ao iPhone X, o AirPower prometia ser uma base de carregamento sem fio universal, capaz de recarregar simultaneamente um iPhone, um Apple Watch e os AirPods, independentemente da posição dos dispositivos na superfície. A proposta ambiciosa exigia um complexo arranjo de múltiplas bobinas de carregamento sobrepostas, uma engenharia que se mostrou inviável. Os principais desafios técnicos incluíram superaquecimento excessivo dos componentes e interferência entre as bobinas, problemas que comprometeriam a segurança e a eficiência do carregamento.
