Shown here are various emergency vehicles responding during a disaster protection exercise on June 14, 2025, in the district of Plön.

The scenario involved a power outage (blackout) that had already lasted several days in some municipalities of the Plön district.

During this blackout, a graduating class at the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium was celebrating their senior prank. Unfortunately, an experiment in the school's chemistry lab went wrong, resulting in a chemical spill. Around 60 people were injured or required assistance from emergency services and psychosocial support (PSNV).

In addition to this, smaller scenarios had to be handled throughout the Plön district, such as connecting a backup power generator to the grid.

Units from the fire department, emergency medical services, THW (Federal Agency for Technical Relief), and disaster protection were involved in this exercise.

A special highlight in this video is the GMTW (a coach bus) from the THW regional association of Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as well as the new Unimog ambulance from the German Red Cross (DRK) in Heikendorf. The Unimog appears twice in this video, both visually and audibly, featuring the electronic air horn "Hänsch TFA 624." Receive SMS online on sms24.me
