Filmde, ummadığı bir anda zengin olan bir boyacının hikâyesi anlatılır. Garip, iki arkadaşıyla beraber boyacılık yapar. Banu adında bir kızı sever ancak bunu Banu’ya söyleyemez. Bir gün boyacılık yaparken Garip, bir cüzdan bulur. Cüzdanı, sahibi fabrikatör Atıf’a götürür. Ancak o esnada Atıf kalp krizi geçirir ve hayatını kaybeder. Atıf’ın vasiyetine göre Atıf kimin yanında ölürse tüm mal varlığı o kişiye kalacaktır. Bu yüzden Atıf’ın mirası Garip’e kalır. Ancak Atıf’ın mal varlığını elde etmek isteyen yeğeni, Garip’in elinden mirası almaya çalışacaktır. (Meltem İşler Sevindi)
