The Sun Just Hit Venus With a Massive Blast - Is Earth Next?

The Sun just slammed Venus with a massive blast of radiation and charged particles, and the hit was so strong it stripped parts of the planet’s upper atmosphere right into space, leaving scientists wondering what could happen if Earth took a similar punch. Venus doesn’t have a protective magnetic field like ours, so the solar storm shredded through it like a cosmic blowtorch and lit up the planet’s sky with extreme auroras. The blast was powerful enough to disrupt spacecraft orbiting nearby, which shows just how intense solar storms can get when the Sun decides to unleash one. Researchers say events like this remind us that Earth isn’t completely safe.
