TRIP REPORT | Etihad's Luxury at Unbeatable Prices! | Vienna to Dubai | ETIHAD B787 & Etihad Bus!
Etihad Trip Report flying from Vienna to Dubai onboard one of Etihad's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Etihad's bus on a lovely winter morning.A very comfortable flight onboard the Etihad Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Vienna to Abu Dhabi with a continuation on Etihad's bus service to Dubai downtown. The tickets are sold together on Etihad's website and, in this case, the price was just 70€! A total bargain that I couldn't reject!
After a nice planespotting session at Vienna Terminal 3, we boarded the Boeing 787 that would take us to Abu Dhabi. The day before, I got an offer from Etihad to book the medium seat for 70€ extra. Taking into account that my initial ticket was 70€, I booked that option immediately. 6h flight with an empty middle-seat are definitely worth it!
After a short taxi, we took off from runway 29 in Vienna and quickly made an almost 180° turn to start our route to Abu Dhabi. We overflew Bratislava and Budapest and then set course towards Romania. After some nice views of the Carpathians covered by snow, we flew towards Bulgaria and the Black Sea.
We then crossed all Turkiye and enjoyed some amazing views of the Zagros Mountains covered by the winter snow. We continued towards Iraq and overflew it all the way down to the Persian Gulf. After 1 hour over the Gulf, we started our descent towards Abu Dhabi, where we landed on time after a beautiful night approach.
After some exploration of the new Abu Dhabi Terminal A, it was time to take the Etihad Bus that would take us to downtown Dubai. It's a 2-hour ride on the highway. The bus is pretty standard, with nice air conditioning and free WiFi. A bottle of water is offered to every passenger. There are 2 workers on it: the driver and a steward.
About the catering service, I must say that it was really good on this flight. Cuscus salad, chicken/lamb/vegetarian were the 3 options as main, bread with butter, and a cheesecake. I tried both the chicken and lamb options, and both were really good. A coffee and tea service was offered after lunch. There was no snack service on this flight, which, to be honest, was a little disappointing.
