In this video, I discuss how the Bitcoin community may end up inadvertently damaging Bitcoin forever, by manually intervening to cut out nasty data that has been buried deep in the blockchain.
Manual interventions like this turn Bitcoin into a trusted system forever.
The best way to avoid this from happening is to close all of the gaping arbitrary data holes at the consensus level with a soft fork like BIP-110, and to do this before offensive non-monetary data like large op return CSAM ends up in a mined block.
