Frankreichs Ex-Präsident Nicolas Sarkozy kommt noch heute aus der Haft frei – nach nur rund drei Wochen. Der 70-Jährige war wegen illegaler Wahlkampffinanzierung mit mutmaßlichen Geldflüssen aus Libyen zu fünf Jahren Haft verurteilt worden. Obwohl die Berufung läuft, trat er die Strafe am 21. Oktober an. Nun lässt ihn ein Pariser Gericht unter Auflagen frei. Die Entscheidung war juristisch möglich – bei Häftlingen über 70 Jahren kann eine Haftverschonung beantragt werden. Sarkozy selbst bezeichnete die Zeit im Gefängnis als „Albtraum“. Sein Fall sorgt in Frankreich für heftige Debatten – über Justiz, politische Verantwortung und doppelte Standards.
