De Nations Championship debuteert in juli 2026 als gloednieuw rugbytoernooi! In juli reizen de beste landen van het noordelijk halfrond af naar het zuidelijk halfrond om ieder drie wedstrijden te spelen. In november is het andersom: dan reizen de beste landen van het zuidelijk halfrond af naar het noordelijk halfrond om wederom drie wedstrijden te spelen. De finales zullen uiteindelijk gespeeld worden in Londen! Frankrijk, Schotland, Ierland, Engeland, Italië en Wales representeren het noordelijk halfrond, en Argentinië, Australië, Japan, Fiji, Nieuw-Zeeland en wereldkampioen Zuid-Afrika representeren het zuidelijk halfrond. Verwacht dus rugby van het allerhoogste niveau, volle stadions en een unieke sfeer.
Aan de Nations Championship doet ook een Nederlander mee! Fabian Holland, geboren in Nederland, maakt deel uit van de selectie van Nieuw-Zeeland. De wedstrijden in juli moet hij nog aan zich voorbij laten gaan door een blessure, maar in november is die er naar alle verwachtingen gewoon bij. Nog nooit droeg een Nederlander het iconische zwarte shirt van de All Blacks en ook dit jaar kunnen we volop genieten van zijn rugbykwaliteit.
