José María Zavala es un periodista, historiador y cineasta español con una trayectoria de más de 30 años en medios como El Mundo y La Razón. Especializado inicialmente en la historia de la Casa de Borbón y la Guerra Civil, su vida dio un vuelco en 2009 tras una profunda conversión espiritual vinculada al Padre Pío, lo que le llevó a centrar su carrera en la divulgación religiosa. Desde entonces, ha compaginado la publicación de más de 40 libros de investigación y espiritualidad con la dirección de exitosos documentales católicos como El misterio del Padre Pío o Amanece en Calcuta.
