In dieser Folge müssen wir über FCAS sprechen – das europäische Luftkampfsystem. Es wird nun wohl ohne eine wichtige Komponente auskommen müssen. Denn das deutsch-französische Kampfflugzeug-Projekt wurde gestoppt. "Es hat tatsächlich eine politische, rüstungspolitische, wirtschaftliche, militärische Dimension, der Schaden ist also riesig", sagt Ex-Nato-General Erhard Bühler. Trotzdem sei das Aus für das Projekt folgerichtig gewesen. Bühler erklärt die Gründe und was ein französisches Familienunternehmen sowie das französische Atomprogramm damit zu tun haben. Er ist sich trotzdem sicher, dass es ein neues Kampfflugzeug geben wird, wenn auch in einer anderen Form. "Nahezu sicher wird es teurer werden, in der Entwicklung, in der Beschaffung, in der Nutzung und ganz sicher wird es auch später kommen, als ursprünglich geplant", so Bühler.Zunächst sprechen Host Tim Deisinger und Bühler in dieser Folge von "Was tun, Herr General?" aber über das Rahmenabkommen zwischen den USA und dem Iran, das einen Weg zu einem Frieden ebnen soll. Binnen zwei Monaten soll ein endgültiger Vertrag stehen. Ob das klappt, da hat Bühler seine Zweifel, vor allem wegen dem kurzen zeitlichen Rahmen.
