Katz menyebut pembongkaran terowongan menjadi tantangan utama setelah proses pemulangan sandera selesai.
Ia menegaskan, operasi ini akan dijalankan langsung oleh IDF, namun berada di bawah pengawasan dan kepemimpinan Amerika Serikat.
AS disebut akan menyediakan dukungan teknis, logistik, hingga intelijen, termasuk pemetaan bawah tanah menggunakan sensor modern.
Katz menegaskan pembongkaran terowongan merupakan inti dari proses pelucutan senjata dan keamanan jangka panjang di Gaza.
Diketahui, terowongan Hamas selama ini dikenal sebagai sistem pertahanan bawah tanah yang digunakan.
Untuk menyembunyikan senjata dan melancarkan serangan mendadak ke wilayah Israel.
Jaringan tersebut diperkirakan membentang puluhan kilometer dan terkoneksi dengan infrastruktur sipil seperti rumah, sekolah, hingga rumah sakit.
