Forget perfect and bend your knees | Meenakshi Gautam | TEDxKew
Nobody shows you the bent knees. We only ever see the straight legs the perfect poses, the flawless results, the people who seem to have arrived fully formed without a single struggle.
In this talk, Meenakshi uses one simple yoga pose Uttanasana, the standing forward fold to challenge everything you believe about perfection, progress, and what it actually takes to begin.
This is not a talk about flexibility.
It is a talk about what happens when you stop forcing and finally allow yourself to show up exactly as you are.
Bend your knees. Start before you are ready. The rest will follow. Meenakshi grew up in Meerut, India, before moving to Delhi, where ambition and achievement shaped her outlook on life. Drawn to solving problems, she studied Nanotechnology with hopes of using technology to help cancer patients.
As she navigated a demanding corporate career, balancing work, home, and countless responsibilities, yoga entered her life. What began as a practice evolved into a philosophy that challenged her lifelong belief that every problem could be solved through effort alone.
Through yoga therapy studies and teacher training, Meenakshi discovered ancient wisdom that offered a different path: surrender, acceptance, and self-compassion.
Today, she lives in Meerut with her cats, Piddu and Pintu. Her TEDx talk was inspired by a simple yet profound moment when her teacher told her, "You can bend your knees." This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Receive SMS online on sms24.me
