Primitive Technology | Firing tiles and building the roof on the mud mortar/fired brick hut

I fired 2 batches of barrel roof tiles to form the roof of the hut built in the previous episode. Then I cut the purlins for the roof and plastered them onto the gable end walls. The tiles were then put in place to start forming the roof. So far the walls are suporting the weight of the roof and tiles satisfactorily. Though time consuming to build, huts with tiled roofs are more durable than thatched huts and last much longer in wet environments.

About Primitive Technology:
Building things in the wild completely from scratch no modern tools, no modern materials.

The challenge is simple but strict: If I need a fire, I make a fire stick. If I need an axe, I shape a stone. Every hut is built solely from trees, mud, and rocks. I don't live in the wild, but I love discovering just how far we can go using only natural materials and human effort.
