Mereka mengklaim, empat roket yang diluncurkan ke Ashdod dicegat oleh pertahanan udara.
Sementara satu roket sisanya mendarat di area terbuka.
Tak ada korban cedera maupun kerusakan yang ditimbulkan akibat jatuhnya roket.
Insiden terjadi saat Angkatan Laut Israel bersiap untuk mencegat armada besar yang berupaya menerobos blokade maritim Israel di Jalur Gaza.
Sehari setelahnya tepatnya pada Kamis (2/10), Hamas juga melakukan serangan terhadap pos militer di Gaza tengah.
Seorang perwira terluka parah dan dua tentara terluka ringan dalam serangan tersebut.
