A major Pakistan-linked espionage probe has put 13 Indian Navy personnel among 18 suspects under the scanner, with Andhra Pradesh’s Counter Intelligence Cell investigating an alleged network targeting sensitive defence information linked to Visakhapatnam and the Eastern Naval Command.
In this video, we explain Operation Firewall 2026, the multi-state counter-intelligence operation, the arrest of an Indian Navy sailor Pradeep Mukherjee and civilian contract driver Annam Sai Varaprasad, and the alleged transmission of sensitive defence information to Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs).
The investigation reportedly involved 12 specialised teams across 10 states and Union Territories, with electronic devices seized and the role of other suspects being examined. Reports have also highlighted an alleged social-media-based honey-trap angle involving a Pakistani intelligence operative.
