Mit jährlich bis zu 23.600 Frachtflügen ist ein umfangreiches Logistiknetzwerk entstanden. DHL investierte rund 780 Millionen Euro in die Region. Der Flughafen entwickelte sich so zum zweitgrößten Frachtflughafen Deutschlands, wobei etwa 60 Prozent der Beschäftigten in Logistik- und Expressdiensten arbeiten.
