Abdul Aziz, anggota tim Rescue Damkar Surabaya, menceritakan perjuangan mengevakuasi dua santri yang terjebak di bawah puing-puing bangunan, Sabtu (4/10).
Ia menembus celah sempit di antara beton dengan risiko tinggi demi menjangkau para korban.
Di dalam reruntuhan yang gelap dan pengap, Aziz mendengar suara rintihan minta tolong dari para santri yang masih hidup.
Salah satu korban, Haikal, mengeluh kesakitan pada bagian perut, sementara di dekatnya terdapat jenazah dalam posisi sujud.
Aziz mengaku pemandangan itu membuatnya menangis, namun ia tetap berusaha menenangkan korban dengan ajakan bersholawat.
Ketika mengevakuasi korban lainnya, Yusuf, Aziz sempat mengira sang santri telah meninggal lantaran tertidur sambil memeluk Alquran dan mengenakan kopiah.
Momen itu membuat seluruh tim penyelamat terdiam dan terharu.
Setelah berjam-jam berjuang, Yusuf akhirnya berhasil dievakuasi dalam keadaan selamat menjelang Subuh.
Menurut Aziz, semangat dan doa para korban menjadi kekuatan besar bagi tim untuk terus berjuang di tengah reruntuhan yang berbahaya.
Selain itu, anggota tim rescue pleton 1 Damkar Kota Surabaya Jawa Timur, Abdul Aziz mengungkap kesaksiannya ketika mengevakuasi korban robohnya ponpes Al Khoziny.
Aziz mengatakan dirinya sempat mengira korban Yusuf meninggal karena korban tertidur dan tidak merespons.
Menurut Aziz, Yusuf sempat tertidur sambil membawa Al Quran.
