Hamás negó el 28 de septiembre haber recibido una nueva propuesta de alto el fuego en la Franja de Gaza. A través de un comunicado, el grupo palestino recordó que las negociaciones de paz permanecen estancadas desde los ataques de Israel contra parte de su cúpula en Doha, capital de Catar, a principios de mes.Hamás reiteró su voluntad de evaluar cualquier propuesta de alto el fuego que preserve los derechos nacionales del pueblo palestino, pero desmintió categóricamente haber alcanzado ningún pacto con el presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump. El inquilino de la Casa Blanca trabaja en un plan de 21 puntos junto con el primer ministro israelí, Benjamín Netanyahu, para poner fin a la guerra en la Franja de Gaza. La nueva propuesta incluiría la entrega de todos los rehenes aún en manos de Hamás, ya sea vivos o muertos, en un plazo de 48 horas, así como una retirada gradual del Ejército israelí de la Franja de Gaza. A cambio, Israel liberaría a centenares de prisioneros palestinos, permitiría el acceso de la ayuda humanitaria y facilitaría la formación de un Gobierno palestino en el enclave formado por tecnócratas y sin Hamás.
