Fast 600 km/h schnell: Wasserstoff-Auto will Weltrekord knackenKann Wasserstoff den Diesel verdrängen? Der britische Baumaschinenhersteller JCB will genau das beweisen – mit einem spektakulären Rekordversuch. Der knapp zehn Meter lange Hydromax wird vom ehemaligen RAF-Piloten Andy Green gesteuert, der bis heute den Landgeschwindigkeitsrekord hält. Zwei Wasserstoff-Verbrennungsmotoren mit zusammen 1.600 PS sollen das Fahrzeug auf mehr als 563 km/h beschleunigen. Für JCB geht es dabei um weit mehr als einen Rekord: Das Unternehmen sieht Wasserstoff als Alternative zu Diesel für Baumaschinen, Lastwagen und Landmaschinen. Doch hohe Kosten und eine dünne Tankstellen-Infrastruktur bleiben große Herausforderungen.
