NIEDRIGWASSER AM RHEIN: „Da hatte man mir ein klares Nein gesagt!“ Lkw reichen als Ersatz nicht!Das extreme Niedrigwasser des Rheins trifft Schifffahrt und Industrie immer härter. Am Pegel Kaub liegt der Wasserstand nur noch bei rund 16 Zentimetern – ein neuer Tiefstand. Die Fähre Kaub hat ihren Betrieb bereits eingestellt. Auch für die Frachtschifffahrt wird die Lage kritisch. Unternehmen wie Covestro melden Einschränkungen, weil Rohstoffe und Waren nicht mehr wie gewohnt transportiert werden können. Eine Verlagerung auf die Straße kann die Ausfälle kaum kompensieren: Ein Binnenschiff ersetzt rund 60 Lkw. Verkehrsminister Steffen Bilger berät mit den Ländern über Entlastungen.
