Карельский заповедник «Кивач» был создан относительно недавно, но путешественники со всей России издавна приезжали сюда, чтобы полюбоваться местной природой.
Настоящую славу региону принес водный каскад на реке Суна. Одно из первых упоминаний об этом живописном водопаде встречается еще в середине 16 столетия. Но история Кивача как центра экологического туризма началась в 18 веке, когда здесь побывал известный русский поэт Гавриил Державин. Он рассказал о красоте водопада в стихах и прославил это место на всю страну.
Теперь «Кивач» – один из самых маленьких, но ценных заповедников России, который объединил все богатство Карельской природы, флоры и фауны.
