PROTEGER, un simple mot qui résume une mission que s’est donnée une équipe de scientifiques : Améliorer la biodiversité des rivières, tout en préservant les berges des rivières de Guadeloupe fortement aménagées pour la protection des biens et des personnes.

Scientifique de formation, Maïtena JEAN décide après sa thèse de quitter le monde de la recherche pour celui de la protection et la gestion de l'environnement en intégrant l'équipe du Parc national de la Guadeloupe.

Convaincue que le changement des mentalités se fera par la sensibilisation, elle commence sa carrière au service communication du Parc national. Après 6 années passées à développer notamment des outils pédagogiques, elle retourne vers la science, en devenant responsable du service Patrimoines naturels culturels et paysagers, service en charge notamment des suivis scientifiques pour le Parc national.
