Pelaku berinisial AS nekat membunuh para korban secara membabi buta karena dendam sang ayah pernah diusir dan dihina.
Fakta ini terungkap dalam pra-rekonstruksi yang digelar di Mapolres Aceh Tenggara pada Kamis (3/7) sore.
Disebutkan bahwa ayah AS pernah dikeroyok oleh keluarga korban, diusir hingga dihina saat tinggal di Kabupaten Bener Meriah.
Lantaran diusir, AS dan ayahnya kini tinggal di pedalaman perkebunan di Pegunungan Kompas, Aceh Tenggara.
Mereka tinggal di sebuah pondok yang jauh dari permukiman warga tanpa alat penerangan maupun air.
Kapolres Aceh Tenggara, AKBP Yulhendri mengungkapkan, atas perbuatan sadis tersebut, tersangka AS dijerat dengan pasal pembunuhan berencana dengan ancaman hukuman mati atau penjara seumur hidup atau maksimal 20 tahun penjara.
Sebelumnya, AS ditangkap oleh petugas gabungan seusai buron selama delapan hari.
Pemuda berusia 21 tahun itu ditangkap di Desa Kute Mejile, Kecamatan Tanoh Alas, Kabupaten Aceh Tenggara pada Senin (23/6) malam.
Polisi sempat kesulitan mengungkap motif pembunuhan lantaran kondisi psikologis AS yang belum stabil.
AS bahkan dilaporkan kerap menjerit histeris di dalam sel penjara dan memberikan keterangan yang berubah-ubah.
Polisi memastikan, AS bukanlah orang dengan gangguan kejiwaan (ODGJ).
Adapun lima korban tewas yang dihabisi oleh AS adalah pamannya, Nayan Basri (50), sepupunya, Elviana (16), Laura (13), Fajri (3), dan Hidayat (26).
Sedangkan satu korban selamat, Mattiah sudah diperbolehkan pulang setelah dirawat di RSUD Sahuddin Kutacane.
