US-Präsident Trump ist optimistisch, dass bald auch eine im Gazastreifen folgt. „Wir denken, dass wir innerhalb der nächsten Woche eine Waffenruhe bekommen“, sagte Trump.Die ebenfalls zwischen Israel und der Terrororganisation Hamas vermittelnden Länder Katar und Ägypten bemühen sich seit langem um eine neue Waffenruhe in dem Küstengebiet. Im Rahmen einer solchen Vereinbarung sollen auch die im Gazastreifen weiter von der Hamas und anderen Terrorgruppen festgehaltenen Geiseln freikommen sowie viele palästinensische Häftlinge aus israelischen Gefängnissen entlassen werden.
