Atzeni ha riportato un trauma cranico ed è rimasto in osservazione ospedaliera, mentre il cavallo si è rialzato subito ed è stato giudicato in buone condizioni dai veterinari.
L'episodio ha riacceso le polemiche degli animalisti sull'invasione di pista e, più in generale, sulla gestione della sicurezza durante la manifestazione, un tema che coinvolge da anni sia gli organizzatori sia le associazioni di tutela degli animali.
