Las Amazonas - das ist ein Frauen-Softballteam, das in traditionellen Trachten spielt und damit die Geschlechtererwartungen in Mexiko bricht.Eine indigene Gemeinschaft im Südosten Mexikos lebt seit der Maya-Zivilisation in strengen Geschlechterrollen. Doch Las Amazonas wollen das überkommene Modell überwinden: Sie spielen Softball und brechen schon damit Rollenerwartungen. Vor allem aber wollen sie die Bedeutung der Arbeit betonen, die sie im Haushalt und für ihre Familien leisten. Auf dem Spielfeld sind sie erfolgreich, doch zu Hause haben es die Spielerinnen oft nicht leicht.
