2022 yılının soğuk bir Şubat günü başlayan Rusya-Ukrayna savaşında sona gelindi. Aslında böyle olacağı aylar öncesinden belliydi. Amerika’da Donald Trump’ın seçimleri kazanmasıyla başlayan değişim rüzgarları, beyaz sarayda Ukrayna Devlet Başkanı Zelenski’nin kamuoyu önünde aşağılanmasıyla ete kemiğe bürünmüştü. Amerika’nın Ukrayna’dan desteğini çekmesi, İkinci Dünya Savaşı’ndan beri askeri açıdan sırtını NATO’ya, dolayısıyla Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’ne dayayan Avrupa ülkelerinde de paniğe neden olmuş, birden ordusuyla ön plana çıkan Türkiye denklemde daha önemli hale gelmiş, Amerikasız da Ukrayna’yı kurtarmanın yolları aranmış, çoğu Avrupa ülkesinde zorunlu askerlik tekrar gündeme gelmiş, tartışılmış, birleşik Avrupa ordusu konuşulmuş, kısacası soğuk savaşın bitişi ardından kurulması ertelenen düzene dair detaylar masada tartışılmaya başlanmıştı.
