El Salvaje Oeste no es como Hollywood te lo vende
El mito de Hollywood sobre el Salvaje Oeste es, en realidad, un decorado de cartón piedra diseñado para vendernos una narrativa falsa de superioridad anglosajona. La figura icónica del cowboy solitario es una apropiación cultural de manual; sus raíces, desde el sombrero de ala ancha y las botas hasta los caballos y el sistema de ranchos, provienen enteramente de la herencia española y mexicana. Lejos de los honorables y épicos duelos al sol, la violencia real era cobarde, ocurría por la espalda, y los pueblos prósperos tenían un estricto control de armas. La conquista de la frontera no fue una cabalgata romántica, sino una trampa mortal de frío, enfermedades y hambre, donde la inmensa mayoría de buscadores de oro se arruinaron mientras corporaciones como Wells Fargo y vendedores de picos se hacían ricos. Además, el cine blanqueó una realidad tremendamente diversa, borrando a afroamericanos, chinos e hispanos, y maquilló el brutal exterminio biológico y económico de los nativos. En definitiva, esta desmitificación no busca que odies los clásicos del cine, sino que abras los ojos: el poder siempre reescribe la historia, colonizando tu mente.
