La tensión en torno al estrecho de Ormuz continúa en aumento, después de que el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Irán acusara a Estados Unidos de obstaculizar sus esfuerzos diplomáticos con Omán. El portavoz de la cancillería iraní, Esmail Baqaei, afirmó este lunes ante los medios que la presión ejercida por Washington sobre Mascate está dificultando las conversaciones destinadas a establecer un mecanismo conjunto para la gestión de esta estratégica vía marítima, una iniciativa que Teherán ha impulsado desde hace varios meses. En tanto, el Cuerpo de Guardianes de la Revolución Islámica de Irán aseguró haber atacado instalaciones militares estadounidenses en distintos puntos del golfo Pérsico, incluyendo depósitos de combustible, almacenes de municiones y sistemas de radar. Irán señaló que estas operaciones son en represalia por la tercera ronda de bombardeos estadounidenses contra el sur del país.
