Грузия — уникальный перекрёсток природных зон на стыке Европы и Азии. Здесь встречаются европейские и азиатские виды, формируя необычайно богатую фауну. Территория страны охватывает все высотные пояса — от полупустынь до альпийских зон, и это отражается на самих бабочках: один и тот же вид меняется в зависимости от высоты — в горах мельчает, в низинах становится крупнее и ярче.
Фауна бабочек Закавказья насчитывает около 4000 видов, из которых примерно 300 — дневные.
Лектор: Валерий Петров — специалист по бабочкам, сотрудник Национального музея Грузии и Музея шёлка, художник. Его акварельные биологически точные иллюстрации вошли в этот набор.
