Microsoft Copilot Cowork Can Now Build REAL Apps | Apps in Cowork

Microsoft Copilot Cowork can now build lightweight, interactive business apps using natural language through the built-in App skill - without writing code.

You simply describe the problem you want to solve, the app you want to create, or the information you want to visualize. Cowork can then invoke the App skill to generate the application and, for supported connectors, can even generate the data schema and connect the data source so the app is ready to use.

In this video, I use Apps in Cowork to build a complete Project Delivery Command Center from a SharePoint list.

I start with real project data in SharePoint and then build the app iteratively using simple prompts. We create the first version, improve the experience, add search and filtering and then make the app actionable by allowing users to add and edit project information and write changes back to SharePoint.

I also cover the part that matters most for enterprise adoption: admin and governance.

You’ll see how Apps in Cowork fit into the broader Microsoft governance story, including environment routing, developer environments, identity and access controls, connector and data policies, centralized app inventory, usage and monitoring.

The biggest shift is simple:

Instead of starting with “how do I build an app?”, users can start with the business problem and let Cowork help build the solution.

Apps in Cowork are currently part of the Microsoft 365 Copilot Frontier experience, so capabilities may continue to evolve.
