Simeon Karpuzov is an experienced researcher in the Digital Health team at the GATE Institute. Drawing on his practical experience in simulations, mathematical modeling, and laser physics, Simeon, together with his colleagues from the Digital Health division at GATE, registered a patent for a method and system for patient monitoring through video surveillance.
The invention helps with the early detection and prevention of complications resulting from epileptic seizures. It is being tested on five patients at an epilepsy clinic in the Netherlands. Simeon is also working on research into brain networks within a project related to the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.
