AMOKLAUF AN ELITE-UNIVERSITÄT: Schütze tötet zwei Menschen bei Anschlag in Providence, Rhode IslandEin bewaffneter Täter hat an der Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, das Feuer in einem Klassenraum eröffnet. Zwei Studenten starben, neun weitere wurden teils lebensgefährlich verletzt. Der Schütze flüchtete zunächst zu Fuß vom Campus und blieb rund fünfzehn Stunden verschwunden.
Nun meldeten US-Medien die Festnahme einer verdächtigen Person, eine Bestätigung als mutmaßlicher Täter steht aus. Die Polizei durchsuchte mit rund 400 Einsatzkräften und Unterstützung des FBI Gebäude und das Umfeld der Universität. Der Angriff ereignete sich während laufender Abschlussprüfungen im Ingenieursgebäude. Alle Opfer sind Studenten.
