Sehingga membandingkannya dengan konsep “Lebensraum” atau ruang hidup yang diusung Nazi Jerman.
Konsep "Israel Raya" berakar pada penafsiran tertentu terhadap ideologi Zionis, yang menyatakan kalau tanah perjanjian terbentang dari Sungai Nil di Mesir hingga Sungai Efrat di Irak.
Penafsiran ini telah menjadi bahan perdebatan sejak berdirinya Negara Pendudukan Israel.
Oleh para pendukungnya, konsep ini dipandang sebagai pemenuhan nubuatan agama.
Sedangkan dan para kritikus dan penentang konsep tersebut mengutuknya sebagai pembenaran untuk perluasan wilayah dengan mengorbankan kedaulatan negara-negara tetangga.(*)
