In precedenza, Meloni aveva spiegato che all'indomani del G7 trovava il rapporto tra lei e Trump «immutato». E, a proposito del loro incontro a Evian, aveva aggiunto: «Non c'è stato tra noi neanche bisogno di parlare. Non ci sono state tra noi recriminazioni. Io e Donald abbiamo un carattere abbastanza forte, siamo due persone che difendono con determinazione il loro interesse nazionale.
