"Ist es wirklich das, was ihr wollt?"Seit dem Sturz des Assad-Regimes im Dezember 2024 sind laut dem UNHCR bereits 1,614 Millionen Flüchtlinge nach Syrien zurückgekehrt. Das bestätigte die Flüchtlingsorganisation der Vereinten Nationen gegenüber „Welt am Sonntag“. Deutschland steht in dieser Liste jedoch ganz unten. Die Bundesrepublik ist nicht einmal separat aufgeführt, sondern in der Gruppe „sonstige Länder“ mit insgesamt rund 6.100 Rückkehrern. Die meisten Syrer kehrten aus der Türkei zurück – mit rund 634.000 Menschen – dicht gefolgt vom Libanon.
