Hal ini diungkap seorang pejabat senior AS yang tak disebutkan namanya sebagaimana dilaporkan Middle East Eye pada Sabtu (29/6).
Sumber menyebut Putin akan memasok rudal jelajah balistik antikapal P-800 Oniks.
Rudal mematikan ini mampu terbang dengan ketinggian rencah untuk menghindari deteksi radar kapal lawan.
Persenjataan ini memiliki kecepatan hingga Mach 2,6 dan seberat 3 ton.
Adapun kesepakatan ini dicapai oleh kedua negara dalam rangka mempererat hubungan Rusia dan Yaman.
Namun demikian langkah ini akan menjadi momok bagi kekuatan Barat yang berupaya melindungi pelayaran komersial di Laut Merah.
Kelompok Houthi diyakini telah memiliki rudal jelajah antikapal supersonik P-800 Oniks buatan Rusia, yang diperoleh melalui Suriah dan milisi Hizbullah Lebanon.
Kantor berita Rusia RIA Novosti melaporkan pada bulan Maret bahwa kelompok tersebut telah mulai memproduksi rudal hipersoniknya sendiri.
Sebagaimana diketahui, Moskow telah berkoordinasi dengan Houthi sebagai bentuk meningkatkan aliansi dengan Iran.
